Battlefield 6 Faces Backlash: “Objective Ace” Skin Copies Call of Duty
Battlefield 6 shattered records in October 2025. The game sold over 7 million copies in just three days, making it the fastest-selling entry in the franchise’s history. However, the celebration has ended. Fans are now calling out EA and DICE for a new controversy. Players allege that a new character skin rips off Call of Duty and utilises AI generation.
Battlefield 6 “Objective Ace” Controversy
The issue centres on the “Objective Ace” skin. EA released this cosmetic as part of the Season 1 Battlefield Pro bundle. Fans quickly noticed a striking resemblance between the skin’s skull mask and the logo from Call of Duty: Ghosts.
A popular post on the Battlefield subreddit highlights the similarities. The mask features a crack in the exact same position as the split in the Ghosts logo. Furthermore, players point to specific deformities in the skull design. Consequently, many fans accuse the developers of using AI to generate the asset lazily.

A History of AI Allegations
This is not the first time fans have suspected AI usage in Battlefield 6. Previously, the “Winter Offensive” update sparked similar outrage. Players targeted the “Winter Warning” sticker, claiming it was AI-generated artwork.
EA has not officially confirmed if they use AI for these assets. However, critics point to past comments from DICE’s Rebecka Coutaz. She previously described generative AI’s potential as “very seducing”. Currently, neither EA nor DICE has issued an official statement regarding the “Objective Ace” mask or its similarity to Call of Duty.
Technical Issues & Stiff Competition
This controversy arrives at a difficult time for the shooter. Despite the blockbuster launch, player counts have tapered off. The recent “Winter Offensive” patch introduced glitchy menus and noticeable in-game stuttering. Although DICE rolled out a fix for the stuttering, many disgruntled players have already left.
Battlefield 6 now faces intense market pressure. ARC Raiders debuted in October and captured “Best Multiplayer Game” at the 2025 Game Awards. It matched Battlefield 6’s peak with over 700,000 players. Meanwhile, Treyarch launched Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in November, which peaked at just over 100,000 players on Steam.
Battlefield 6 initially rewarded loyal fans with unique skins, such as the “Road to Battlefield 6” event rewards and open beta items for the Coyote Squad and Fireteam Vedmak. Yet, these new controversies threaten to sour the community’s view of the game permanently.
