Capcom launched a minor title update for Resident Evil Requiem recently. The patch targets PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. However, it completely skipped the Nintendo Switch 2. That console last received a patch on March 9. The official patch notes are extremely brief. They simply state that minor fixes have been implemented.
Unexpected Bugs Frustrate Players
Despite the promise of minor fixes, the update introduced new problems. Consequently, players flocked to the Resident Evil Requiem subreddit to report fresh bugs. Specifically, users are experiencing a black screen when loading the game. Furthermore, some players noticed pixelated shadows and a distinctly less grainy screen. Fortunately, these bugs do not affect everyone. Currently, the best solution is to wait. Capcom will likely release a follow-up patch soon to address these new issues.
Resident Evil Requiem: A Record-Breaking Success
Even with this small setback, the game remains a massive triumph. Resident Evil Requiem originally launched on February 27, 2026. Within just five days, it sold a staggering five million copies. Therefore, it set a brand new sales record for the long-running franchise. Fans widely praised the initial launch. Gamers appreciated the impressive performance and overall stability, noting how smoothly the title runs across platforms even without a day-one patch installed.
The Return of Leon S. Kennedy & Future DLC
The game masterfully combines two distinct experiences. First, players control FBI agent Grace Ashcroft during a troubling investigation. This opening half leans heavily into classic survival horror. Afterward, the gameplay shifts into a more action-driven experience. Here, players take control of franchise veteran Leon S. Kennedy. His mission directly ties to his past. Ultimately, this marks Leon’s highly anticipated return to the mainline series almost 13 years after the events of Resident Evil 6.
Finally, fans have even more content to anticipate. Game director Koshi Nakanishi officially announced an upcoming story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem.
