CDA Plans Major Infrastructure and Beautification Drive in Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced a wide-ranging beautification and infrastructure improvement plan aimed at upgrading residential sectors and commercial centers across Islamabad. The initiative focuses on repairing damaged infrastructure, improving public spaces and enhancing the city’s overall appearance.

The plan was reviewed during a meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa, where officials discussed sector-wise development priorities. According to the authority, the drive will cover road-related repairs, landscaping work and upgrades to basic public facilities in both residential areas and Markaz centers.

Under the proposed initiative, CDA will repair existing parking areas, renovate broken footpaths and construct cycle tracks in selected locations. Officials said efforts will also be made to fix non-functional streetlights, improve overall lighting conditions and install new signage boards to help commuters and visitors navigate commercial zones more easily.

The plan further includes proper lane markings, repair and reconstruction of manholes and kerb stones, and improvements to sewerage and drainage systems. These measures are aimed at addressing long-standing civic issues that affect daily movement and public safety in busy areas.

As part of the beautification component, greenbelts and road intersections will undergo landscaping, while eco-friendly plantation and restoration of flower beds will also be carried out. CDA officials said the focus would remain on sustainable and low-maintenance greenery.
