CDA Removes Illegal Security Cabins From 223 Houses in Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA), in coordination with the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, has intensified its anti-encroachment drive, removing illegal security cabins from outside 223 houses across the federal capital. The action targets structures built on public land in violation of city regulations and aims to restore Islamabad’s planned urban layout.

The latest operation was carried out in sectors F-6, F-7, and G-11/3, where enforcement teams dismantled 29 illegal security cabins in a single day on January 14. Officials confirmed that the drive is being conducted daily and without exemptions, regardless of the status of the residents.

A CDA official said the cabins were erected on footpaths and roadsides, causing obstruction to pedestrians and vehicles. “These illegal structures restrict traffic flow and can delay emergency services. Public land must remain accessible to all,” the official stated.

Under existing CDA rules, security cabins, guard rooms, and generators are strictly prohibited on public land. Authorities say such encroachments damage the capital’s master plan, reduce public access, and pose safety risks. Similar operations in the past were paused due to resistance, but officials say the current campaign will continue until all public spaces are fully cleared.

The administration has urged residents to remove encroachments voluntarily to avoid penalties. Remaining illegal structures will be seized or demolished, and homeowners may face fines along with recovery of removal costs. CDA has reiterated that no special permissions exist for placing security cabins on public land.
