The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has recently given approval to 17 projects worth Rs. 18.8 billion and amongst them, four projects are related to the science and technology sector which are worth Rs. 4977 million (4.9 billion) in total. CDWP has further recommended nine projects worth Rs. 594.5 billion to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) for consideration.
These projects were approved during the meeting of the CDWP which was held under the chairmanship of Minister for Planning, Development, and Reform, Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar, and was attended by other senior officials from federal and provincial governments.
Four projects of science and technology sector were presented before the CDWP. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) presented two projects. The first one was regarding ‘strengthening and development of physical and technological infrastructure at the University of Haripur’ worth Rs. 1546.960 million and the second one was related to ‘livestock sector development through capacity building, applied research and technology transfer, the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences’ worth Rs. 1905 million.
Meanwhile, the other two projects were presented by the science and technology ministry i.e. ‘establishment of Pak-Korea Testing Laboratory for PV Modules and Allied Equipment’ worth Rs. 1385.429 million and ‘up-gradation of Polymers and Plastics Laboratory at PCSIR Laboratories Complex, Lahore’ worth Rs. 140.249 million. All of these four projects have been approved by the CDWP.
Other than science and technology, CDWP approved projects worth millions of various other sectors including energy, transport and communication, health, population planning, industries and commerce, food and agriculture and education.
