China will assist Pakistan in establishing a state-of-the-art law enforcement center equipped with artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and visiting Chinese Vice Minister for Public Security Gao Qi in Islamabad.
During the meeting, Pakistan and China discussed expanding cooperation to combat terrorism and drug trafficking. Both sides also agreed to strengthen their police training exchange program.
The two countries further agreed to cooperate on advanced law enforcement technologies and equipment, with China set to support Pakistan in developing its AI-based law enforcement capabilities.
Gao Qi praised Pakistan’s sacrifices and determination in the fight against terrorism. The Chinese official reaffirmed the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries on security-related matters.
Naqvi said the proposed AI-powered law enforcement center would represent another symbol of the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China.
He added that Chinese AI technology and modern law enforcement equipment could help Pakistan address emerging security challenges and strengthen its law enforcement capabilities.
