Concerns Over Transparency: IT Ministry Sets Up Special Control Room for PM’s Ramadan Package Monitoring

ISLAMABAD: In a bid to ensure the transparent implementation of the Prime Minister’s Ramadan Package, the Ministry of IT & Telecommunication has established a special control room at the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC). However, questions remain about the overall efficiency and accountability of the subsidy distribution.

Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, visited the control room to review the digital monitoring system designed to track the distribution of subsidies. Officials provided a detailed briefing on the portal’s functionality, the subsidy mechanism, and efforts to resolve public complaints.

The control room features real-time monitoring of a call center dedicated to handling public grievances. Officials claim that the system is designed to ensure transparency and prevent misuse of funds. However, past experiences with government subsidy programs have raised concerns about their practical effectiveness and accessibility to those in need.

Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja instructed that the digital portal be further refined to enhance efficiency and user-friendliness, emphasizing the need for maximum public facilitation. While the initiative appears promising, its actual impact will depend on execution, responsiveness, and the ability to curb potential loopholes in the system.
