Consumers Charged Rs18 86 Billion In Tv Fees Via Electricity Bills

ISLAMABAD: In a surprising disclosure, it has been revealed that electricity consumers across Pakistan were billed a staggering Rs18.86 billion in television fees over the last two years.

The information was presented by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar in a written response during a session of the National Assembly.

According to the details, the Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) was responsible for collecting Rs16.64 billion from consumers through their electricity bills under the TV fee category. Meanwhile, K-Electric, which supplies power to Karachi, collected an additional Rs2.21 billion from its consumers for the same charges.

The revelation has sparked concerns over the inclusion of such fees in electricity bills, raising questions about transparency and consumer rights.
