Court Extends Remand of Six NCCIA Officials in ‘Ducky Bhai’ Case

A city court has extended the physical remand of six officers from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) till November 3. The officials are accused of misusing their authority and extorting money from YouTuber Saadur Rehman, known online as Ducky Bhai, while he was in custody. Initially, nine NCCIA officials were booked for extorting money from Ducky Bhai’s family, out of which six were remanded in FIA custody.

The accused include:

  • Additional Director Sarfraz Chaudhry
  • Deputy Director (acting in-charge) Muhammad Zawar Ahmad
  • Assistant Director Shoaib Riaz
  • Assistant Director Mujtaba Zafar
  • Sub-Inspector Ali Raza
  • Sub-Inspector Yasir Ramzan

Investigation and Recoveries

The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Corruption Wing presented the officers before the court. The Investigating Officer (IO) submitted an initial report showing large cash recoveries.

  • Rs. 12.548 million from Sarfraz Chaudhry
  • Rs. 7 million from Ali Raza
  • Rs. 1.9 million from Yasir Ramzan
  • Rs. 3.648 million from Shoaib Riaz
  • Rs. 900,000 from Muhammad Zawar Ahmad

The IO also informed the court that an inquiry into the suspects’ assets had been initiated. He requested a 12-day remand for further investigation.

The defence opposed the FIA’s remand plea. Shoaib Riaz’s counsel argued that allegations of transferring 326,420 US dollars from Ducky Bhai’s Binance account were baseless. The counsel added that there was no proof of monthly payments from call centres or any undue favours granted to the YouTuber.

Decision Given by the Court

After hearing both sides, the court rejected the FIA’s request for 12 more days and instead extended the physical remand by three days. The accused will remain in custody till November 3, 2025.
