The Excise and Taxation Department of Islamabad has extended the deadline for motorcycle M-Tag installation until March 5, 2026, giving residents additional time to comply before enforcement measures begin.
Director General Excise, Irfan Memon, urged citizens to ensure their motorcycles are tagged before the new deadline. He noted that the extension was granted to accommodate public convenience and to improve overall compliance across the federal capital.
The tagging requirement applies to both motorcycles and vehicles as part of the ongoing digital registration and monitoring initiative. In preparation for the upcoming month of Ramadan, operating hours for M-Tag installation centers have been revised. Some centers will operate 24 hours, others on 12-hour or 8-hour schedules to manage increased demand.
Round-the-clock services will be available at Sector 26 and Phulgran Toll Plaza, while other centers will operate from morning to evening. Key locations such as F-9 Park and the G-14 police checkpoint will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Additional sites at Faizabad Interchange, Gulberg Greens, and Milpur will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and facilities near Sabzi Mandi police station and Daman-e-Koh will remain open until evening.
So far, 8,928 motorcycles have received M-Tags, including 2,069 installed in the last 24 hours. Overall, 238,080 tags have been issued for vehicles in Islamabad. Authorities emphasized that all available resources are being utilized to accelerate the process and appealed to citizens to cooperate by completing M-Tag installation before March 5.
