Transactions linked to Easypaisa and processed through several merchant and payment intermediary firms are reportedly facing delays, creating uncertainty for businesses and customers across Pakistan’s digital payments sector.
Industry sources told TechJuice that the disruptions are affecting transactions associated with SWICH, Simpaisa, ajarPay, RapidPay, Zero Technologies, and Finza Tech, with some merchant payments experiencing processing and settlement delays. However, the issue does not appear to be a nationwide Easypaisa outage, as routine wallet services and person-to-person transfers remain available.
International payment processor dLocal has also reported processing issues involving Easypaisa in Pakistan and said the matter is under investigation.
The disruptions come amid increased scrutiny of digital payment channels by law enforcement agencies over their potential use in online gaming, gambling, suspicious financial activity, unauthorized transfers, and other illicit transactions.
Recent FIA investigations have examined the alleged use of bank accounts, mobile wallets, and cryptocurrency channels in illegal online gaming and gambling activities, including the movement of funds through multiple accounts and digital hawala and hundi networks.
Meanwhile, the State Bank of Pakistan introduced a regulatory framework in May 2026 covering certain payment intermediaries and aggregators, strengthening requirements related to documentation, foreign exchange compliance, settlements, and monitoring of financial flows.
Industry sources said the key concern is the delayed settlement of legitimate merchant transactions, with affected businesses waiting for clarity on when pending payments and funds will be cleared.
Easypaisa was approached for comment, but a company representative said the organization did not wish to comment at this stage.
