Epic Games Store Reveals ‘Definitely Not Fried Chicken’ as Final January 2026 Freebie

Published by

The Epic Games Store has officially unveiled its final free title for January 2026. Starting January 29, PC gamers can claim Definitely Not Fried Chicken at no cost. This wacky management sim serves as the closing act for a busy month of giveaways.

Build Your Empire (Legally & Illegally)

Definitely Not Fried Chicken offers a unique twist on the standard business simulator. The game challenges players to run a fast-food joint. However, the restaurant is merely a front. In reality, you manage a sprawling drug business.

The gameplay loop requires careful balance. First, you generate cash flow through legitimate offers like fried chicken. Then, you use those profits to expand into illicit product lines. Eventually, you must expand your legal operations enough to provide a convincing cover for your criminal empire.

Fans of Breaking Bad will immediately recognise the inspiration. The game essentially asks you to become Gustavo Fring. You manage supply chains, diversify products, and avoid unwanted attention.

Epic Games Store Release Schedule & Availability

The title arrives on the Epic Games Store on January 29. It will be free immediately upon launch. You have exactly seven days to claim it before the offer expires on February 5 at 8:00 AM PT / 11:00 AM  ET / 9:00 PM PKT.

Before this new offer begins, make sure you grab the current freebie. Rustler is available right now. This “Grand Theft Horse” adventure combines classic GTA gameplay with a medieval setting and modern pop-culture references.

Epic Games Store Free Games Schedule:

Game Title Value Free Period Status
Rustler $24.99 Jan 22 – Jan 29 Available Now
Definitely Not Fried Chicken $24.99 Jan 29 – Feb 5 Coming Soon

Player Reception

Originally released on PC in September 2023, the game spent two years as a Steam exclusive. It currently holds a “Mostly Positive” rating on Valve’s storefront, with 71.50% positive reviews from nearly 2,000 users.

Players often describe it as a “Los Pollos Hermanos simulator”. Reviews praise the depth of micromanagement and the engaging progression loop. However, some recent feedback criticises a lack of updates, potentially due to publisher troubles. Despite this, it maintains a reputation as a solid strategy game for aspiring crime lords.

This addition marks the end of the January 2026 lineup, which previously featured titles like Wildgate and Total War: Three Kingdoms.
