‘Exodus’ Confirmed as First World Premiere for The Game Awards

The road to The Game Awards 2025 has officially begun. Archetype Entertainment recently confirmed that its ambitious Sci-Fi RPG, Exodus, will appear at the upcoming event. This announcement marks the first officially confirmed “World Premiere” for the show.

The studio broke the news on November 25 through the Exodus X account. They posted a 15-second teaser video with the caption:

This is your call to rise.

Consequently, fans can expect a brand-new trailer when The Game Awards airs live on December 11 at 07:30 PM ET / December 12 at 05:30 AM Pakistan Standard Time.

A Star-Studded Sci-Fi Epic

Exodus originally debuted at the 2023 Game Awards. The title stars actor Matthew McConaughey and features complex time dilation mechanics. However, fans haven’t seen much of the game in action since that initial reveal.

The excitement surrounding Exodus stems largely from its development team. Archetype Entertainment is a Texas-based studio under Wizards of the Coast. Furthermore, it was founded by former BioWare veterans James Ohlen, Chad Robertson, and Drew Karpyshyn. These developers previously worked on legendary titles like the original Baldur’s Gate, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Mass Effect.

An Expanding Universe

While the game has remained quiet, the Exodus universe has grown significantly over the last 23 months. Archetype Entertainment has aggressively expanded the lore through various media.

• Novels: Peter F. Hamilton wrote a prequel novel, Exodus: The Archimedes Engine, released in September 2024. A sequel will arrive in June 2026.
• TV Series: The universe appeared in the 11th episode of Amazon’s Secret Level anthology series.
• Web Content: The studio released a TTRPG show called Star Heist and a “Traveler’s Handbook” for the community.

Exodus Release Date Speculations

Currently, Archetype Entertainment has not confirmed an official launch date. However, a February 2025 earnings report from Hasbro, the parent company of Wizards of the Coast, offered a clue. The report claimed Exodus is slated for a 2026 release.

Many speculate that the studio will finally announce the official release window during the December 11 presentation. While other titles like Naughty Dog’s rumoured Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet might skip the show, Exodus is positioning itself to be a standout moment of the night.
