Facebook Marketplace has introduced a set of AI-powered tools aimed at making it faster and easier to list, sell, and communicate with buyers. The updates span four areas: automated product listings, prepaid shipping labels, AI-drafted replies to buyer inquiries, and AI-generated seller profiles.
The biggest change is to the listing process itself. Sellers can now upload a photo and let Marketplace’s AI generate a full product description, including a recommended price based on comparable listings. Sellers retain full control to edit or regenerate the summary before publishing.
On the shipping side, Facebook has added prepaid shipping labels that can be generated directly within the app, expanding sellers’ potential reach beyond local pickup. The platform has also rolled out AI auto-replies for common buyer questions. When a buyer asks about availability, price, or pickup location, Meta AI can draft a response using details already in the listing. Sellers can enable, preview, and edit these replies during listing creation. The feature was first tested in November 2025.
Finally, Marketplace now includes AI-generated seller profile summaries that display a seller’s connections, how long they have been on Facebook, and a brief overview of their Marketplace activity. The aim is to build buyer trust at a glance.
The updates reflect Marketplace‘s growing importance to Meta’s overall strategy. The platform now has over 1.1 billion active users and has become a key tool for retaining younger demographics as attention shifts to other apps for entertainment and social connection.
By lowering the friction of listing and selling, Meta is betting that AI can turn more casual users into active sellers, keeping them engaged within the Facebook ecosystem.
