Bethesda just officially confirmed that the highly anticipated Fallout 76 next-gen update launches on September 15. Therefore, players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will finally experience improved performance, stability, and visual fidelity. Furthermore, older consoles will also receive a “Gen 9 boost”. This technical upgrade allows the development team to optimize each platform individually in the future. Meanwhile, Bethesda plans to launch a Public Test Server (PTS) period for consoles in the coming weeks.
Fallout 76 Season 26 Update: The Slasher Event & Return of Legacy Seasons
This massive update drops simultaneously with Season 26, officially titled ‘Beware the Blood Moon’. Specifically, this new season introduces a first-of-its-kind mystery event centered around ‘The Slasher’. Over the course of several weeks, players will hunt down a terrifying creature terrorizing the wasteland. Along the way, you must discover hidden clues and battle dangerous fanatics. Consequently, players who successfully defeat The Slasher will earn a unique set of Power Armor and the exclusive Super Slasher weapon
In addition to new content, Bethesda is officially bringing back Legacy Seasons. As a result, you can now unlock missed rewards from previous years. Each regular season will run concurrently with a past Legacy Season. Moreover, both active seasons will share the exact same pool of reward tickets. For instance, Season 26 will pair directly with ‘Armor Ace and the Power Patrol in Cold Steel’, which originally debuted back in September 2020.
Raven Rock & Fallout 3 Remaster Confirmed
Beyond the September 15 update, the future holds even bigger content drops. Looking ahead to 2027, Fallout 76 will receive a major expansion featuring the iconic Raven Rock. Interestingly, this expansion acts as a direct prequel story to Fallout 3. Most importantly, Bethesda officially confirmed that a full Fallout 3 remaster is currently in development.
Previously, Fallout 76 experienced a massive glow-up through major map expansions like Skyline Valley and Burning Springs. Notably, the Burning Springs update recently introduced the Ghoul from the hit Amazon Prime television show. It even added mechanics that allow players to become ghouls themselves. Ultimately, Appalachian Wasteland explorers have plenty of new content to dive into this year.
