The Federal Board of Revenue has announced a major enforcement success as the Corporate Tax Office Lahore recovered a large amount in outstanding income tax from a taxpayer who failed to meet statutory obligations. The move reflects the government’s broader push to strengthen tax compliance and improve revenue collection through strict enforcement.
In an official statement, the Federal Board of Revenue said the Corporate Tax Office Lahore recovered Rs2.646 billion after completing assessment proceedings against a non-compliant taxpayer. The recovery relates to an outstanding income tax demand created following a lawful and professional assessment process. The FBR noted that the action was carried out strictly under applicable tax laws.
Tax enforcement has become a central pillar of the government’s revenue strategy. According to FBR data, enforcement measures helped recover Rs874 billion during the fiscal year 2024–25, a sharp increase compared to the previous year. This highlights a shift toward tighter monitoring and action against tax evasion.
Building on recent gains, the FBR has set an ambitious enforcement recovery target for the ongoing fiscal year. Officials say continued enforcement actions are aimed at widening the tax net, improving fairness, and ensuring that statutory obligations are fulfilled across sectors.
