The FBR has set up two new check posts to monitor vehicles entering taxable areas from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, aiming to tighten checks on goods and ensure all supplies are properly documented. The move marks a stronger push to stop misuse of tax exemptions and strengthen oversight of trade routes.
The newly issued notification confirms that one check post has been established at Kohala Bridge, the main route connecting Muzaffarabad to Murree and Abbottabad, while the second has been placed at Nakoder on Dina Mangla Road near Mirpur. Officials said the goal is to verify goods and documents in line with tax laws.
“Vehicles coming from exempt zones must now carry valid paperwork,” an official explained, adding that Inland Revenue inspectors have been empowered to stop and examine shipments.
The FBR said the new check posts, created under Rule 69F of the Sales Tax Rules 2006 and Section 40D of the Sales Tax Act 1990, will help curb tax evasion, prevent the misuse of exemptions, and ensure stricter supply chain compliance. Regional tax offices have been authorised to supervise and operate these stations.
