ISLAMABAD: The federal government has officially announced public holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on March 15, 2026, Prime Minister has approved March 20 and March 21, 2026 (Friday and Saturday) as public holidays across the country.
The notification states that the holidays will apply to all government offices observing both five-day and six-day working weeks.The decision has been taken in continuation of the Cabinet Division’s earlier circular issued on January 19, 2026, which outlined the schedule of public and optional holidays for the year 2026.
The Cabinet Division further directed that the notification be given wide publicity through print and electronic media to ensure public awareness.
The announcement confirms that federal government offices will remain closed on the declared dates in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr, allowing citizens and employees to celebrate the religious festival.
