Immigration processing was suspended at airports across Pakistan after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration system broke down, leaving passengers waiting in long queues.
Airport officials said the system failure, which began at Jinnah International Airport, has temporarily halted immigration clearance for travellers. The FIA immigration system is currently not working at any airport in the country.
With counters unable to process passengers, queues have grown steadily in immigration areas. Officials said the suspension has caused significant delays for departing and arriving passengers.
Sources said this is not the first time the system has failed. The FIA immigration system also went down at Jinnah International Airport two weeks ago. No timeline has been given for restoring the system.
