First Centralised 911 Emergency Helpline to Launch in Pakistan

During a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Information Technology, NTC officials briefed the committee on the progress of Pakistan’s first centralised emergency helpline.

Pakistan is developing its first centralised emergency helpline, according to NTC officials. The initiative aims to provide a single, reliable point of contact for emergencies across the country.

An agreement has been finalised with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to launch the 911 service. Any person calling from anywhere in the province will be connected to the nearest emergency centre. Officials added that after the successful launch in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the service will expand to other provinces.

The centralised system will significantly improve response times and coordination among emergency services. NTC officials emphasised that this project is part of a broader effort to modernise Pakistan’s emergency infrastructure.

Once fully operational, the service will set a precedent for nationwide emergency response, ensuring timely assistance for citizens in critical situations.
