Apple is lining up a major display upgrade across its product range. Over the next few years, the company plans to move several popular devices to OLED screens. The shift will begin in 2026 and continue through 2028, according to industry reporting.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has said the iPad mini and MacBook Pro are first in line. He previously reported that both could receive OLED displays as early as this year. However, he does not expect the MacBook Air to follow until at least 2028.
Meanwhile, Apple is also preparing a new iPad Air for release this year. Gurman noted that this model will still use an LCD panel. He expects a later version to adopt OLED instead. Based on his comments, the iPad Air is unlikely to make the switch before 2027.
There is also movement on the desktop side. Last month, South Korean outlet The Elec reported that Apple plans to launch a 24-inch iMac with an OLED display in 2027 or 2028.
The expected OLED rollout looks like this:
- The iPad mini is set for 2026.
- The MacBook Pro is expected in late 2026 or 2027.
- The iPad Air is targeted for 2027.
- The iMac may arrive in 2027 or 2028.
- The MacBook Air is projected for 2028.
OLED technology offers clear visual benefits over LCD. It delivers richer colors and a much higher contrast ratio. True blacks also improve depth and clarity on screen. As Apple moves more products to OLED, users can expect sharper visuals and a more premium viewing experience across the lineup.
