Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday approved the formation of a “Taskforce on Technology-Driven Knowledge Economy”. The decision was finalized during PM Imran Khan’s meeting with Dr.Atta-ur-Rehman in Islamabad. The task force would consist of the best minds of the industry which including leading scientists and engineers from the private and government sector. The main motivation behind the formation of this task force is to reevaluate national interests and priorities on the basis of technological advancements and pure research.
PM Imran Khan on this occasion shared his opinion on this project, where he said that the top-most priority of the current government is to build the intellectual capital of the country with the help of industrial advancement which will further aid in the development of human capital. He further stressed that quality management of the locally produced products is of paramount importance. PM also emphasized the potential of the youth as they can play a crucial role in Pakistan’s success in the field of hi-technologies. Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman briefed the Prime Minister about progress on construction of Pak Austrian Fachhochschule at Haripur. He also updated the Prime Minister about the progress of the establishment of Center of Excellence with help of China in Mineral Resources Engineering, Railway Engineering and Agriculture Food Technologies.
This a progressive step taken by the current government since countries like South Korea and China are a prime example of this model. With the establishment of technology parks, ICT sectors and the recent invitation to Bill Gates for the development of the IT industry in Pakistan, it seems the government is adamant on developing a technology-driven economy.
