Grand Theft Auto (GTA) VI remains one of the most highly anticipated games in recent memory. Fans constantly speculate about the upcoming open-world title. Now, new details have emerged. A former Rockstar developer recently suggested that GTA VI will likely adapt and expand upon systems from Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) and Grand Theft Auto V.
Former Rockstar audio designer Rob Carr shared these insights during a recent interview with Kiwi Talkz. Carr stated he would be “incredibly surprised” if the developers did not bring back older systems.

Returning Mechanics & Tech Upgrades
Rockstar holds a strong history of iterating on past features. For instance, the original Red Dead Redemption introduced the “Dead Eye” system. Rockstar later evolved this mechanic into Michael’s special ability in GTA V.
Carr expects GTA VI to integrate similar elements from prior titles. The gaming industry has experienced massive technological advancements since GTA V. Consequently, these upgrades allow returning mechanics to reach new heights.
Fans and insiders heavily theorize about specific returning features. Many expect RDR2 elements like the honor system, camps, and weapon maintenance to reappear. These additions would significantly increase immersion.
Recent GTA VI Leaks & the RDR3 Connection
Speculation continues to grow as the twice-delayed November 19 release date approaches. A recent separate leak indicates that GTA VI might feature a procedurally generated broken glass system.
Integrating RDR2 mechanics could also serve a secondary purpose. It might act as promotional groundwork or an Easter egg for a potential Red Dead Redemption 3. Another unnamed former developer recently claimed they would be “shocked” if Rockstar was not already developing Red Dead Redemption 3 (RDR3). Therefore, cross-promotion in Grand Theft Auto (GTA VI) makes perfect strategic sense.
Currently, players await more official reveals. Rockstar will likely drop new information soon to address the rampant speculation before the November launch.
