Google Adds AI-Generated Review Summaries to Play Store
Google continues to expand its AI footprint across its platforms, and the latest addition has landed on the Play Store. Android users will now see AI-generated summaries for app reviews, providing a quick overview of user sentiment without requiring them to scroll through endless feedback.
The new feature, labeled as “Users are saying,” appears above the standard review section. It compiles a short paragraph that highlights both the most common praises and complaints found in user reviews. The goal is to help users make faster and more informed download decisions.
According to the source, the rollout has started; it remains gradual, a familiar pattern for Google. The AI review summaries were first spotted in testing over a year ago and are now beginning to appear for users with supported apps. However, Google has not specified the exact number of reviews required for an app to qualify.
Beneath each AI summary, users will notice tappable “chips” that filter reviews by key themes, such as performance or usability. Tapping one instantly surfaces reviews that match the selected category.
Interestingly, Google isn’t the first to introduce this concept. Apple implemented a similar AI-driven review summary system in its iOS App Store earlier this year, showing that both tech giants are betting big on AI to simplify user experiences.
