Google Rolls Out New Memory Feature For Gemini Ai Allowing Recall Of Past Conversations

Newly surfaced court documents have confirmed that Google Gemini is no.3 in AI chatbots, boasting approximately 350 million monthly active users and 35 million daily active users as of March 2025. Despite impressive growth, Gemini still trails behind OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Meta AI in user numbers.

The user data for Gemini emerged through court filings from an ongoing antitrust case against Google. According to the documents, Google Gemini, now positioned at no.3 in AI chatbots globally, expanded its daily user base from 9 million in October 2024 to about 35 million by early 2025. Monthly active users also grew from around 90 million to 350 million during the same timeframe.

While Gemini has gained significant traction among tech enthusiasts, it remains behind its leading competitors. Analysts estimate ChatGPT now surpasses 600 million monthly active users and 160 million daily active users, although OpenAI has yet to officially confirm these numbers. The last public update from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in early April mentioned 500 million monthly active users. In a lighter moment during an April 11 TED interview, Altman joked about ChatGPT reaching one billion weekly users—a figure later cited as speculative by PCMag.

Meanwhile, Meta AI has also outpaced Gemini, reaching about 700 million monthly active users by January 2025, up from nearly 500 million users in September 2024. Meta’s AI dominance is partly attributed to its integration across major platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Industry experts highlight Google’s unique deployment strategy for Gemini as a critical factor in its growth. Unlike OpenAI and Meta, which often rely on users actively visiting websites or downloading standalone apps, Google has embedded Gemini across its ecosystem. Users can access Gemini through Google Workspace tools, Chrome browsers, and even Samsung Galaxy smartphones and new Chromebooks, according to Gadgets Review.

Despite being ranked no.3 in AI chatbots, Google continues to enhance Gemini with productivity-driven features. Recent additions include “Deep Research,” offering a transparent explanation of AI responses, and “AI Mode” for Google Search, providing a more AI-integrated search experience.

Although all major AI services are seeing rapid expansion, the gap between Google Gemini and its top two rivals suggests there is still a long way to go before it catches up to ChatGPT and Meta AI.
