Google Phone App Adds Call Recording for Older Pixel Models

Google has rolled out a new update for its Phone app, bringing native call recording to Pixel 6 and newer devices worldwide. The stable version 198+ now also allows older Pixel models running Android 14 or higher to access this long-awaited feature.

Pixel owners can enable Google Pixel call recording by opening the Phone app, going to Settings, selecting Call Assist, and toggling on Call Recording. According to the source, users can then record calls manually from the dialer or automatically for unknown numbers and specific contacts.

The Pixel Feature Drop 2025 also introduces AI call notes to Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, and Japan. This feature transcribes conversations and generates summaries, helping users manage calls efficiently.

With this update, Google continues enhancing Pixel functionality with AI-driven tools while expanding key features like native call recording to a broader range of devices.
