Google has released a new chapter in its “BestPhonesForever” campaign, and this time the company is borrowing some Broadway energy. The latest ad arrives alongside the theatrical debut of Wicked: For Good, using the movie’s momentum to frame another playful showdown between the Pixel and the iPhone.
In the spot, an iPhone openly adores the Pixel before drifting into a musical tribute set to the Wicked: For Good song. Google uses the moment to imply that the Pixel has repeatedly introduced features long before Apple adopted similar ideas. The ad references call screening, photo-editing tools that erase unwanted objects, and a conversational AI assistant.
“Oh Pixel, I’m so lucky to have a friend like you. You’ve always inspired me!
You do things first that show me the way. Like fixing photos, screening calls, or building an AI assistant you can have real conversations with.”
Although the commercial keeps its tone light, it avoids showing any meaningful product detail. As a result, the value of using smartphones as a promotional strategy remains unclear for a device meant to emphasize its AI strengths.
Google has been running its Pixel-against-iPhone ads since 2023, and the series now includes more than 30 clips. These videos often compare features or highlight gaps in Apple’s lineup, especially in AI.
