The federal government has announced a slight reduction in the price of petrol while increasing the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) for the next 24 hours under its daily fuel pricing mechanism.
According to the latest notification, the price of motor spirit (petrol) has been reduced by Rs0.75 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs335.06 per litre.
Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been increased by Rs2.24 per litre to Rs390.62 per litre.
The latest revision comes as international crude oil prices continue to climb, with Brent crude trading around $91 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) hovering near $85 per barrel.
A day earlier, the government had increased petrol prices by Rs1.63 per litre to Rs335.81 per litre, while diesel prices were raised by Rs1.55 per litre to Rs388.38 per litre.
Since the introduction of the daily fuel price adjustment mechanism in mid-July, petrol prices have increased by Rs24.34 per litre, while diesel prices have surged by Rs67.29 per litre, reflecting volatility in global oil markets and their impact on domestic fuel prices.
