The federal government has launched an ambitious initiative to modernize Pakistan’s public payment system by establishing the Government Payments and Receipts Transformation Unit (GPRTU) within the Finance Division. The unit will lead the integration of federal institutions with the Raast instant payment system, aiming to create a secure, standardized and interoperable digital payments ecosystem.
According to the Finance Division, the newly established unit will spearhead the implementation of end-to-end digital payment and receipt solutions across government departments, improving efficiency, transparency and financial governance.
The Solution/Enterprise Architect will lead the technical integration of government systems with Raast by designing enterprise architecture, assessing existing IT infrastructure, ensuring compliance with State Bank of Pakistan standards, and overseeing implementation, testing and cybersecurity measures.
The Infrastructure & System Engineer will be responsible for deploying and maintaining secure, high-availability infrastructure, ensuring system resilience, disaster recovery and uninterrupted operation of the government’s digital payment ecosystem.
Meanwhile, the Business Analyst/Process Optimization Specialist will review and redesign existing payment and receipt workflows, identify operational bottlenecks and coordinate with ministries and public sector organizations to facilitate a smooth transition to digital payment systems.
The Compliance & Financial Operations Lead will oversee regulatory compliance, financial controls, reconciliation processes, operational governance and risk management to ensure all government payment and receipt transactions meet applicable financial regulations and internal control standards.
The Finance Division said these positions are central to the government’s strategy of developing a unified, secure and interoperable digital payments framework capable of supporting large-scale government disbursements and revenue collections through the Raast platform, marking another significant step in Pakistan’s digital public finance transformation.
