Govt to Launch Digitized Tax Return Forms for Salaried Individuals

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has announced that simplified tax return forms for salaried individuals will be introduced by September, ahead of the next tax cycle. This initiative aims to encourage greater tax compliance and streamline the filing process for the salaried class.

The announcement was made during a meeting at the Finance Division with a visiting delegation from Afiniti, an AI technology firm. The delegation, led by Jerome Vaughan Kapelus, CEO of Afiniti Software Solutions Pvt Ltd, discussed the company’s expanding operations in Pakistan, talent recruitment, and taxation challenges.

Minister Aurangzeb highlighted the government’s efforts to modernize the tax system through digitalization. He emphasized that reducing the number of fields in tax return forms would make filing easier for salaried individuals, encouraging greater participation in the tax system.

“The new system will go live by September, ensuring a smoother process for taxpayers before the next filing season,” he stated.

Additionally, the Finance Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to broadening the tax base, integrating non-compliant sectors, and providing relief to over-taxed segments like the salaried class and manufacturing industries.
