GTA 6 Facing Another Delay? Conflicting Reports from Developers

Ongoing rumours suggest that GTA 6 could get delayed once again. An interviewer with inside connections has ignited these rumours. Rockstar’s next open-world blockbuster, already pushed to May 26, 2026, continues to draw attention as uncertainty surrounds its final release window.

The GTA 6 Website’s Countdown Confusion

In a post on X, Ben (@videotechuk_), a trusted news source for all Rockstar Games and Grand Theft Auto VI, dismissed claims that Rockstar removed GTA 6’s release date from its website. He clarified that the homepage was merely redesigned to fit larger news posters and confirmed the “GTA VI Countdown” circulating online is fake news.

Conflicting Reports Inside Rockstar

Reece Reilly, host of the “Kiwi Talkz” podcast, replied to the post by Ben. He stated that he has heard “conflicting reports” from developers at Rockstar’s Bangalore, Edinburgh, and San Diego studios. He noted there’s no consensus across teams about whether development will wrap up in time for the May 2026 target.

Reilly explained that these mixed updates could reflect an internal debate on the game’s readiness. He believes GTA 6 is nearing completion, but needs extensive testing to meet Rockstar’s high standards. He referenced the troubled launch of Cyberpunk 2077 as an example of what the studio might be trying to avoid.

As of now, Rockstar’s official website still lists May 26, 2026, as GTA 6’s release date. However, with recent staff layoffs and conflicting insider reports, doubts are growing about whether the studio can meet that timeline.

Until Rockstar issues an official statement, any talk of another delay remains unconfirmed. But, fans are still watching very closely.
