GTA Online Update: ‘Michael’ Returns & Mansions Arrive This Week

Rockstar Games finally pulled back the curtain on the next major Grand Theft Auto (GTA) Online patch. After months of rumours, the studio confirmed the “A Safehouse in the Hills” update will release this Wednesday, December 10.

This free content update hits PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While fans expected the “Mansions” update, the trailer revealed a massive surprise. Michael De Santa, one of the three main protagonists from Grand Theft Auto V, is officially coming back.

Michael De Santa Returns After 12 Years

It has been twelve years since fans experienced the Grand Theft Auto V story. Since then, Franklin and Trevor appeared in various Online updates. However, Michael remained the odd one out until now.

According to the new blog post, this update is monumental. Michael appears multiple times throughout the trailer. This suggests his role is substantial. It seems similar to Franklin’s involvement in “The Contract” update. Rockstar brought back the icon for one last hurrah just as players began to lose faith in his return.

New Mansions & Gameplay Features in GTA Online

The update officially introduces “Prix Luxury Real Estate” to the game. Finally, players can purchase new mansions. These properties feature sprawling outdoor spaces and meticulously designed interiors.

Furthermore, these homes come with a state-of-the-art AI Assistant. This feature aids players with professional and personal tasks to maximise their potential. Additionally, fans can expect tons of new missions, vehicles, and upgrades.

Grand Theft Auto VI Delayed to Late 2026

While the Online news is exciting, the update on the sequel is sombre. Rockstar Games recently confirmed another delay for Grand Theft Auto VI.

Initially, the studio targeted a Fall 2025 release. Later, this slipped to May 26, 2026. Now, the highly anticipated title will launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Currently, it remains unclear if GTA Online progress will carry over to the successor. For now, fans have the “Safehouse in the Hills” update to enjoy starting December 10.
