HEC Updates Curricula for Political Science, Islamic Studies, Remote Sensing & GIS, and Architecture

ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has updated the curricula for Political Science, Islamic Studies, Remote Sensing & GIS, and Architecture. These revisions were made by National Curriculum Review Committees (NCRCs), consisting of esteemed professors, senior faculty members, scholars, and industry experts.

In a press release issued on Monday, HEC stated that the changes aim to enhance academic quality, meet industry demands, and integrate market trends into these disciplines.

The curriculum review process was led by:

  • Prof. Dr. Muqarrab Akbar (Political Science)
  • Shah Mohyuddin Hashmi (Islamic Studies)
  • Attaur Rahman (Remote Sensing & GIS)
  • Mohammad Arif Changazi (Architecture)

HEC Deputy Director Hidayatullah Kasi served as Secretary and oversaw the meetings.

The updated curricula focus on program nomenclature, eligibility criteria, learning outcomes, course structure, objectives, degree requirements, and elective choices. These revisions align with international standards while addressing local educational and industry needs.

Additionally, the new curriculum adheres to National Qualifications Framework levels 5, 6, and 7. Universities are encouraged to implement these changes to ensure consistency and quality in education across Pakistan.
