Pakistani students seeking to pursue a PhD abroad can apply for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) for the 2027-28 academic year. The program offers 400 fellowships to outstanding students seeking full-time doctoral studies at participating universities in Hong Kong.
Successful fellows will receive a monthly stipend of HK$28,700 for up to three years, along with an annual allowance of HK$14,400 for conference participation and research-related travel. Students enrolled in four-year PhD programs may receive the fellowship support during their fourth year as well.
The scheme is open to applicants from all countries, including Pakistan. Candidates are assessed on academic excellence, research ability and potential, communication and interpersonal skills, and leadership qualities.
Applications opened on September 1, 2026, and the initial application deadline is December 1, 2026, at 12 noon Hong Kong Time. Applicants must first apply through the HKPFS electronic system and then submit a separate PhD admission application to their chosen university.
