Huawei has confirmed that the nova 16 series will launch in China on June 1. The company will also introduce the MatePad Pro Max at the same event. Huawei recently unveiled the tablet for global markets earlier this month.
The upcoming nova 16 lineup will include four models. These are the nova 16, nova 16 Pro, nova 16z, and nova 16 Ultra. Huawei has already started taking reservations for the smartphones in China.
The nova 16 Pro and nova 16 Ultra will feature a triple rear camera setup. Huawei placed the camera sensors and LED flash inside two large circular rings. These rings sit on top of a rectangular camera module.
Huawei also teased the nova 16 Pro in Sky Blue and Iridescent color options. The standard nova 16 will carry a dual rear camera setup. However, it will keep a design similar to the Pro and Ultra variants.
Meanwhile, the nova 16z comes with a different camera layout. The phone features a pill-shaped rear camera module with dual rear cameras and dual LED flashes.
On the front, the nova 16 Pro and nova 16 Ultra appear to include dual selfie cameras. Huawei placed them inside a pill-shaped cutout. In comparison, the standard nova 16 and nova 16z will use a hole-punch cutout for the front camera.
Huawei is expected to reveal more details before the official launch event. According to a recent leak, the nova 16 Ultra may feature a 6.84-inch LTPO display. The phone could also ship with a Kirin 9-series chipset and a 7,000mAh battery.
The leak further suggests that the nova 16 Ultra will include a 50MP primary rear camera. The sensor is rumored to measure 1/1.3-inch in size.
