The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has announced a scheduled electricity outage across multiple areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum on Thursday, January 15, due to routine maintenance and development work. Power supply will remain suspended in affected localities for several hours during the day.
According to IESCO, the planned outages will take place mainly between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, while some areas may face extended shutdowns until 4:00 pm, depending on the nature of maintenance work. The outages will affect feeders operating under Islamabad Circle, Rawalpindi City and Cantt Circles, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and GSO Circle.
An IESCO spokesperson stated that the shutdowns are part of ongoing efforts to improve system reliability and ensure uninterrupted power supply in the future.
“These temporary suspensions are necessary to carry out essential maintenance and development work aimed at improving service quality,” the spokesperson said.
Power suspension will impact several residential and commercial localities, including parts of Islamabad sectors, Rawalpindi city areas, cantonment zones, Attock rural and urban areas, Chakwal towns, and Jhelum city feeders. Consumers are advised to plan their activities accordingly and take precautionary measures during the outage hours.
IESCO regularly schedules planned power shutdowns to upgrade transmission lines, repair grid stations, and reduce unexpected breakdowns. Such maintenance work is commonly carried out during daytime hours to ensure the safety of technical staff and minimize long-term disruptions.
IESCO has requested consumers’ cooperation and assured that electricity will be restored immediately after completion of the maintenance work. Any delay may occur due to technical complexities or weather-related factors.
