LAHORE: Former PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat has reignited controversy over Imran Khan‘s phone, alleging that the stolen devices were handed over to former spymaster General (r) Faiz Hamid. The claims have added another twist to the long-standing mystery surrounding the disappearance of Khan’s mobile phones, initially reported during PTI’s Sialkot rally in May 2022.
Marwat, speaking to a private media outlet, asserted that an investigation into the missing phones had pointed towards Shahbaz Gill, a former special assistant to the prime minister (SAPM) and once a close ally of Imran Khan. According to Marwat, Gill, who was serving as Khan’s chief of staff at the time, allegedly stole Imran Khan’s phone and turned it over to General (r) Faiz Hamid.
This allegation follows previous reports of Khan’s mobile devices going missing under suspicious circumstances, raising concerns about potential breaches of sensitive information. Given Khan’s high-profile status, the loss of his phone could have posed serious security risks, with speculations that critical data may have been compromised.
Marwat claimed that upon discovering the theft, Imran Khan dismissed Gill from his position and distanced himself from him. He also alleged that Khan had issued directives to remove Gill from the party’s political committee, a move that was reportedly ignored by certain PTI leaders.
However, Gill dismissed these allegations, taking to social media to mock Marwat and the TV host discussing the claims. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he sarcastically suggested retrieving the phones from General Faiz’s residence, further fueling online debates surrounding the incident.
With multiple conflicting narratives emerging, the mystery surrounding Imran Khan’s phone remains unsolved, leaving many questioning the true story behind this high-profile case.
