Apple’s next software update, iOS 26.1, is set to deliver a small but practical improvement for iPhone users, one that could help them avoid running late.
The update introduces a new “slide to stop” feature for alarms in the Clock app. Instead of the current large “Stop” button found in previous iOS 26 builds, users will now need to slide across the screen to turn off an alarm. This simple change aims to reduce accidental taps that often silence alarms unintentionally.
The new design is a nostalgic nod to the “slide to unlock” bar that appeared on iPhones between 2007 and 2016, bringing a familiar gesture back to Apple’s interface.
Apple rolled out the iOS 26.1 Release Candidate earlier this week, suggesting that the public release could arrive early next week, most likely on Monday or Tuesday.
