Apple’s second-generation iPhone Air could arrive in the first quarter of 2027, according to a new research note. If the timeline is accurate, Apple could unveil the device before the end of March 2027.
The source claims the iPhone Air 2 will use Apple’s A20 Pro chipset. The same processor is also expected to power the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple will reportedly build the chip on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process, which should deliver better performance and improved power efficiency.
The report also points to several hardware upgrades. The iPhone Air 2 could feature a smaller Dynamic Island than the current iPhone Air. Apple is also expected to add a 48MP ultrawide camera, giving users a stronger dual camera setup alongside the main sensor.
In addition, the phone may include Apple’s new N2 wireless networking chip. It will replace the N1 chip found in the first iPhone Air. The current N1 chip supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. According to the source, the newer N2 chip should improve AirDrop and Personal Hotspot reliability.
The iPhone Air 2 is also expected to use Apple’s C2 modem for 5G connectivity. The source says Apple may also bring the same modem to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in selected markets.
Despite the internal upgrades, several key specifications may stay the same. The report says the iPhone Air 2 will keep the 6.5-inch display, 12GB of RAM, and 18MP front-facing camera from the current model.
While Apple has not confirmed any of these details, Jeff Pu’s latest report gives an early look at what users might expect from the next iPhone Air. More leaks are likely to appear as the expected 2027 launch gets closer.
