iPhone Fold to Feature Apple’s Largest Smartphone Battery

Published by

Apple’s long-rumored iPhone Fold may finally arrive later this year. Reports from multiple sources now point to a launch in 2026. If the latest details are accurate, Apple is preparing something very different from current Android foldables.

A new rumor from China claims the iPhone Fold will feature a 5,500 mAh battery. Earlier reports in November suggested a battery between 5,400 mAh and 5,800 mAh. Now, sources appear to have settled on 5,500 mAh as the final figure.

If true, this would mark the largest battery ever used in an iPhone. It would also be nearly 10% larger than Apple’s current biggest battery. That title currently belongs to the eSIM-only iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Battery size alone does not tell the full story. However, Apple’s tight control over hardware and software often delivers strong efficiency. iOS typically consumes less power compared to Android systems. As a result, the 5,500 mAh battery could help the iPhone Fold outperform rival foldable phones in real-world usage.

Beyond battery life, the hardware looks ambitious. The iPhone Fold is expected to feature a 7.8-inch inner display. On the outside, users may get a 5.5-inch cover screen. This setup suggests a compact phone that opens into a small tablet-like device.

On the camera front, Apple reportedly plans two 48MP rear cameras. For selfies and video calls, the device may include two 18MP front-facing cameras. That could allow Apple to optimize imaging for both folded and unfolded modes.

The iPhone Fold is expected to run on the A20 Pro chipset. It will likely ship with 12GB of RAM. This combination should offer strong performance across multitasking and demanding apps.
