Islamabad has increased its vehicle emission testing points from one to four to make compliance easier for motorists. Under the initiative, drivers can now get emissions testing at Lake View Park, F-9 Park, Metro Cash and Carry, and the original D-Chowk site.
Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon visited all four facilities and urged citizens to ensure timely vehicle inspections. The move aims to improve air quality in the capital and ensure adherence to environmental regulations.
Earlier this week, the Islamabad Transport Authority launched a crackdown on smoke emitting vehicles, mandating a Vehicular Emission Clearance Certificate for all city vehicles. Chairman Irfan Memon emphasized that vehicles emitting excessive smoke will not be allowed on city roads, highlighting the initiative’s focus on public health and environmental protection. Staff have been instructed to submit daily compliance reports to ensure transparency and the continuous success of the program.
Officials say expanding testing points will not only make it convenient for citizens but also strengthen Islamabad’s efforts to maintain a healthier Air Quality Index.
