The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended property tax recovery notices issued by the Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad (MCI) to residential property owners in sector E-11.
Justice Khadim Hussain Sumro of the Islamabad High Court suspended the notices while hearing a petition filed by E-11 sector residents against the Metropolitan Corporation.
Two E-11 residents, Ahmad Hassan Rana and Muhammad Munir Ahmad Chaudhry, had challenged the property tax notices issued to them by the Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad.
The court issued notices to the federal government through the Secretary Interior and the Secretary Cabinet Division, directing both officials to submit their formal responses.
The Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) were also served notices by the court, requiring them to file their respective responses in the case.
According to the court order, the petitioners had challenged a gazette notification issued in March 2024 and a property tax bill issued by the Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad in April 2026.
