Islamabad authorities have decided to extend the vehicle M-Tag system to motorcycles, making digital tagging mandatory for all bikes in the federal capital from February 20. The move aims to strengthen security monitoring and streamline vehicle identification across the city.
According to the announcement by Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, motorcycle owners can obtain M-Tags from 13 designated centers by presenting registration papers and CNIC. The requirement will apply to all categories, including regular motorcycles, ride-hailing bikes such as Bykea, and heavy bikes.
Officials said the ongoing M-Tag campaign for cars has progressed successfully, with more than 600,000 vehicles already issued tags in Islamabad. Authorities are also conducting separate registration for Bykea and online taxi motorcycles to integrate them into the system.
The administration stated that expanding M-Tags to motorcycles will help improve urban security, enable better traffic management, and assist law-enforcement agencies in vehicle tracking. Citizens have been urged to cooperate and complete tagging within the announced timeline.
