In today’s meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Information Technology, NTC officials briefed the committee about the plan to establish 30 free Wi-Fi hotspots in Islamabad.
The National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) is establishing 30 free Wi-Fi hotspots across Islamabad. Officials confirmed that the project is progressing smoothly and is expected to be launched by December 2025.
This initiative is part of Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure. The hotspots will provide high-speed internet to residents and visitors at 30 key locations throughout the capital.
NTC is currently providing services to over 3,000 institutions across 100 cities, including cybersecurity support for government organisations. Officials said the Wi-Fi project complements these services, further improving accessibility to digital resources.
Authorities emphasised that the free Wi-Fi initiative aligns with the government’s broader plan to enhance public digital services. With the launch of these hotspots, Islamabad is expected to become a more connected and tech-friendly city by the end of 2025.
