Italy has allocated a dedicated quota of 10,500 jobs for Pakistani workers over the next three years, the outgoing Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Marilina Armellin, announced in Islamabad.
Armellin made the announcement at a ceremony marking the National Day and Republic Day of Italy.
Marilina added that Italy had issued more than 3,200 visas to Pakistani students for the 2025-26 academic year, citing growing cooperation between the 2 countries.
The two countries maintain broad-based relations covering trade, culture, science and technology, and defence. Multiple agreements and memoranda of understanding are in place across various sectors, with cooperation also continuing between universities and think tanks.
President Asif Ali Zardari extended greetings to Italian President Sergio Mattarella and the Italian people on Republic Day, observed annually on June 2.
Asif Ali Zardari further said Pakistan greatly valued its longstanding friendship with Italy, built on mutual trust and shared aspirations for peace and prosperity.
He also expressed confidence that bilateral ties would continue to grow in scope and depth. He also highlighted Pakistan’s broader engagement with the European Union, noting Italy’s role within it.
