Jaguar has just introduced a fully electric version of its classical sports car Jaguar E-type.
Jaguar recently vowed that it wants to convert all of its existing vehicles into all-electric automobiles. Living up to its promise, the company has just introduced what seems to be a facelift from a classic from 1960s. Amply seconded by its tagline, “We future history”, the vintage has been brought to life by the Jaguar Land Rover Classic division. The original car which dates back to 1968, now is totally emission-less being powered totally by electricity all thanks to the 220 kW drivetrain that has been fitted into it.
The company hasn’t changed anything with respect to the aesthetics and design point. The car will even have same drive feels because of the unchanged tires and suspensions etc. “It drives, handles, rides and brakes like an original E-Type,” Jaguar says. The company hasn’t even changed the front-rear weight distribution of the automobile.
As far as the performance of the automobile is concerned, the sports car can top 0-62 mph just in a matter of approximately 5.5 seconds. The car would be able to traverse as far as 170 miles with the 40 kWh battery it has. The users would be able charge the battery to its full capacity in about 6-7 hours.
The car was just revealed and the company hasn’t yet clarified as to when it would be placing car in the market, nor there has been any word about the pricing of the car. Our UK-based readers can get a first hand experience of the car at the JLR TechFest being held tomorrow onwards.
