Karachi Issues Record Rs100,000 E-Challan After Fatal Dumper Crash

Karachi has issued its biggest-ever e-challan, fining a dumper driver Rs100,000 after a speeding heavy vehicle without a tracker caused a deadly accident in Razzaqabad.

The police revealed that the dumper was being operated with no tracker, no fitness certificate, and poor maintenance. Following the incident, authorities suspended the driver’s licence for three months and registered a case at Shah Latif Town police station. The vehicle owner, Sher Zada, has also been named in the FIR, and police confirmed that both the owner and the driver have been arrested.

Officials stated,

“Strict enforcement is now unavoidable. Heavy vehicles violating safety protocols will face immediate legal action.”

The accident killed a rickshaw driver and injured nine others, including children, escalating pressure on authorities to regulate Karachi’s heavy transport network more aggressively.

Police added that the Rs100,000 challan can be settled at a 50% discount if paid within 14 days. The crackdown is part of an ongoing push to enforce tracking systems and ensure fitness certification for all commercial vehicles to prevent such tragedies.
