DIG Traffic Syed Muhammad Shah has revealed that 60 percent of motorcycles in Karachi are fitted with fake number plates, as the city currently has 4.6 million motorcycles on its roads.
Speaking at an event in Karachi, the DIG Traffic acknowledged that the e-challan system is facing certain issues, stating that not everything is functioning perfectly.
He described it as a decades-old problem that would take time to resolve.
He emphasized the need for greater public awareness, particularly regarding helmet use for motorcyclists, which he called extremely important. He added that lane discipline is being strictly enforced across the city.
According to the DIG Traffic, the traffic system will show improved results over time. He noted that the number of motorcycles in Karachi had previously stood at 2 million, a figure that has since risen to 4.6 million.
