After years of limited updates, the Kingdom Hearts franchise is finally back in the spotlight. Disney recently confirmed that the franchise will officially appear at this year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The annual showcase begins next month on August 14.
Meanwhile, fans are already speculating about what Disney and Square Enix will reveal. Following the recent Kingdom Hearts 4 (KH4) combat trailer shown at the June Nintendo Direct, expectations are high. Fans eagerly await new details about the upcoming game’s story, worlds, and new characters.

Kingdom Hearts 4 News Expected at D23 Deep Dive
Disney scheduled a specific Kingdom Hearts deep dive for August 15 at 4:30 PM PT / 7:30 PM ET. For Pakistani viewers, the showcase airs on August 16 at 5:30 AM PKT. The panel will explore how the saga successfully united Disney, Pixar, and Square Enix. Furthermore, the event promises insights from the creative minds and character voice actors behind the magic.
Additionally, the broader D23 event will feature Disney’s Entertainment Showcase. The company promises first looks, surprise announcements, and previews of upcoming projects across its biggest brands. Therefore, the event could easily feature franchise merchandise, anniversary celebrations, collaborations, or developer commentary.
Disney has not explicitly guaranteed KH4 news. However, D23 has a strong history of delivering major gaming announcements. For instance, Square Enix famously confirmed the Big Hero 6 world for Kingdom Hearts 3 (KH3) during a previous D23 event. Because the franchise represents one of Disney’s biggest gaming partnerships, fans have every reason to believe concrete news could arrive midway through August.
The August Gaming Gauntlet
Interestingly, D23 is not the only major gaming event happening next month. Gamescom follows shortly after, with Opening Night Live scheduled for August 25.
Consequently, Disney and Square Enix might be setting up a calculated strategy. They could show Kingdom Hearts without the fourth game at D23, holding back the massive KH4 reveal for Gamescom. Alternatively, the two companies might deliver a one-two knockout punch of announcements across both events. Either way, the first major stop is August 15.
