The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has formally approved a provincial tax exemption for the merged tribal districts and Malakand Division, provincial Information Minister Shafiullah Khan announced.
Service providers operating in the former FATA, PATA and Malakand Division will be exempted from sales tax on services, while industries established in these areas will be exempted from withholding sales tax.
The provincial cabinet also approved an increase in the size of the Ehsaas Naujawan Programme, raising its allocation from Rs3 billion to Rs5 billion.
Separately, the cabinet approved the official observance of Ashra-e-Rehmat-ul-lil-Aalameen across the province starting from the first of Rabi-ul-Awwal, along with the schedule for related programmes.
On the education front, the cabinet approved funds for schools and colleges in various districts, along with a semester-wise jacketed curriculum system for textbooks up to the fifth grade.
It also approved the provision of free textbooks to students from ninth to twelfth grade, covering the entire cost. In addition, the cabinet cleared KP Public Private Partnership Authority Bill 2026 for legislation.
